This product contains a set of activities for multiple meaning words. It includes: instructions, board game, 2-definition match, 3-definition match, dictionary worksheet.
Print and laminate materials for durability. Cut apart pieces. You can leave the cones assembled if you simply wish to use the materials as an aid for instruction. I use it as an interactive task so I cut out scoops and cones separately.
Game Board: Open-ended task to use as a reinforcer after completing the activity or with other tasks.
Green and purple cones: This set lists words with 2 given meanings. Each cone should have a scoop of each color. *Add-on: See if your students can come up with any meanings that are not listed!
Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry cones: This set lists words with 3 given meanings. Each cone should have a scoop of each color. *Add-on: My students always have the most difficulty generating a sentence with a given definition. You could add this as independent work or for a follow-up task to assess new learning.
Dictionary work: Students practice dictionary skills and record definitions.
Definitions are listed on scoops of ice cream. Students should match to the correct term/cone.
Thank you! Maggie Lewis
Thanks! I hope it helps you during this busy time of year. When I use it, first I give my students just the cones to see how many definitions they can state. Then I add in the ice cream for a matching task. Thank you again!

Not what I thought and will need to figure out how to use it.
I'm sorry this was not what you were expecting. The sample images on the listing are direct scans of the actual pages. I have not heard that feedback before so feel free to let me know specifically what was confusing. I cut apart the pieces and use it as a matching task (draw a scoop and add it to the correct cone)- additional ideas for expansion are listed in the directions. You could leave the sheets whole and use post-it notes to cover the scoops; then, have students state 2 definitions and look under the notes as a self-checking review. I hope these ideas help you use this activity with your students.
