Each sheet focuses on one fact and is divided into three columns. The first column contains facts in order so students go up the number line and see a pattern. The second column has the facts according to the commutative property so that students can see that no matter which order they multiply the numbers in they will get the same answer. The last column has the facts in random order so that the student can test their memorization of facts with out any patterns or properties. You can choose to cut the sheet into three parts giving each section separately or give the whole sheet as practice and then make more of just the last column as their final quiz, timing students for one minute. Speed is important in order for students to show they have really memorized the facts. More tips: I also post the quizzes they pass on the “Multiplication Facts I Have Mastered” sheet you can download. If they don’t pass a quiz then they must do extra studying with fact family flashcards and writing their facts down repetitively. See the download titled “See it, Say it, Write it!” for a worksheet in which they can practice writing their facts. As well as the bilingual note to send home “Multiplication Facts I Need to Study.” You don’t want students to give up. Always have extra quizzes available for students to take again. Once a week you can test students on the fact(s) of the week and have other students can read a book while others retest ones they missed before. In addition to these papers I provide students with other worksheets I have collected that focus on the fact(s) of the week where they can practice more before taking the final quiz.
