What names do you use for rhythm note values? I'm in Australia and we use crotchets and quavers.

Our names coincide with the number of beats (kind of). Eighth note is half a beat, quarter note is a full beat, half note is two beats, and a whole note is 4 beats (they're based on a 4/4 time signature).

Sorry for not responding earlier, I just saw this message. I'm not familiar with the MIMIO system, but I do think you need the notebook software to open the file. One of the lessons from this unit is posted for free at my store (Name That Note). You could download it and see if it works for you before you consider making any purchases.
