Hi mjohnson! The tickets are the standards reduced to small print (on a label format) with dotted lines. Basically, I use the sticker labels for my own benefit to place on sheets before I copy them. The tickets are available for my students to cut and glue on projects or notebook paper assignments as an alternative to the labels. They just cut on the dotted lines and glue. Thank you!-Yvonne

I just have a quick request. Could you send me the student cover without the composition background? I saw that there is a "reduced ink" version listed in the Table of Contents, but I can't find it in the file. BTW, I just double checked and my download was only 205 pages instead of 207, so maybe that's the problem? I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

I purchased these and when I printed them off at school, the pages were not right on the student friendly CC standards. Some of them were in between pages. Any ideas on what is wrong? Also, one showed up in a foreign language.

Thank you Dawn. Hmmm.... can you please try to download again from here on TpT? Now that you've purchased it you can download it whenever you need to. No one else has mentioned this issue. I do know that different printers can have different settings. I have printed documents at my school (and have had issues) then I've taken the same documents to UPS or printed them at home with no trouble. Sometimes it is the settings on printers. Can you try this first? Foreign language sounds a little odd. It has to be settings somehow. Let me know if that doesn't work. Thank you. -Yvonne :)

I'm from California and since we always have to do things differently ;) the numbers do not match ours. However, we do have the same standards. Hi Sharilyn! Just saw this. I've been crazy busy all day getting ready to go back to school with kids this week. I really think printing is up to you. I prefer to send my packets to UPS and have them print because it is more economical than using ink in my printer. I did print my covers in color because I laminated them to use each year. I will take them out of the student notebooks at the end of the year to use again next year. My EQ cards are in color as well, because I will use them over and over again. Everything else I've printed in B&W (Domain cards, standard recording forms, checklists, etc...) but you could also print the covers and EQ cards in B&W as well if you wish. Sorry I've had so many questions...I just bought this pack and have another question...what do you do with the essential question posters....do you hang them in room? use as reference? Put in binder? Also how do you use the vocabulary cards?

Please don't hesitate to ask questions! That is what I am here for in case you need help with anything. I really want to help you make this packet work for your students. In my classroom I have a board at the front of the room just for EQ questions. I have printed my EQ posters and placed them in a basket beside this board. As I introduce new standards I will clip (magnetic board) the poster under the math or ELA section of the board. Laminate these EQ cards and use them year after year. As I introduce the standard (or even revisit for review) I will reference our Word Wall (which is on another wall in my classroom-divided by subjects as well) for the vocabulary to support the EQ. My students will complete the standard recording form to support that standard/EQ and list the vocabulary words/word wall cards. If they've already done one for that standard, we will review and move into a task for review. Evidence of learning forms can be placed behind the standard recording forms with whatever work samples you have attached for evidence of that standard. Once I feel we have really mastered a standard, I will ask my students to go back to the standard recording sheet and answer the EQ in their own words. Make the notebook work for you. Use the vocabulary in different ways to make it meaningful for your kiddos just like you would any other word wall activity. Does this help? Please let me know if you need further clarification. Yvonne, I don't know if you can help me or not, but when I printed the second grade notebook there are some pages where there are blacked out portions on the page. For example on the cover where it should print "Grade Standards-Based Notebook" it has ugly solid black rectangles with some points coming off it. On the Parent Letter page the same thing occurred at the bottom inside the dotted rectangle area. I can't make student copies with these black splotches and I don't know how to correct them. Thanks again. It is an awesome resource.

I was so excited to see that you had completed the Core Core Notebook for 1st Grade! However, I am now not certain whether I will be in 1st or K! Will you be creating one for K as well? I know that they will need quite a bit more guidance, however I would still like to use something similar! I must admit that using this Notebook was one of the highlights I was looking forward to this year!

I do feel that Kinders are just too young for using the notebook as a portfolio but I will think about how I can modify some of the resources to help you out with Common Core (such as the "I Can" checklists, EQ cards, etc...) I sure can! Included in this download are teaching directions explaining how to use each section of the notebook. Your students will have Common Core Standard Recording Forms and Evidence of Learning Forms to keep up with the standards and their evidence of learning. I am having my students keep their work samples/pictures of projects in each section (domain) of the notebook. Basically, as they collect their work samples in the notebook we will conference and set learning goals. There is a goal sheet as well. My students will check off the standards they have mastered and set goals for those they need continue practice in. Thank you for your question. Are you asking about the domain/strand dividers? There are ten (one for each domain): Reading (3): Foundational Skills, Informational Text, and LIterature,; Language, Writing, Speaking & LIstening, Numbers & Operations in Base Ten, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Measurement & Data, and Geometry. I actually have notebooks from last year that I am going to use but included in the packet is a letter asking your parents to help you with the purchase of notebooks. If you get a chance please look at the preview of the notebook. It might help you see the design of the dividers. When I go back to school in a couple of weeks I will take some and post them on my blog. I actually have a content word wall where I place each subject's word wall vocabulary words. I have a section of my front dry-erase board for EQ cards. I will simply use magnetic clips to display at the front of the room. I promise to post lots of pics on my blog <a href="http://sassyinsecond.blogspot.com/">Sassy in Second</a> when school starts back to show how I am using the notebook with my kiddos. Thank you for your question about My Common Core Second Grade Notebook. No...you would not need 200 sheets for each student. There is a class set (for the teacher to display in the classroom) of EQ cards and Word Wall vocabulary cards. You will need to copy the 10 domain divider cards for each student along with standard recording forms. There are also evidence of learning forms, goal sheets and student checklists that each student can place in their notebooks. It really is up to you as to which recording sheets you want each of your students to have. Personally, I will make sure each of my students has the standards "I Can" checklists in the front of their notebooks along with the domain dividers. As we begin a new standard or complete an assignment/project that covers that standard...each student will fill out a standard recording form that involves recording the Standard coding, copying and answering the EQ, & Word Wall words-then place into the correct domain behind the domain dividers. I have included standard tickets that your kiddos could keep in their notebooks as well. I hope this helps and answers your question about the packet. Thank you! I am really not familiar with California's Common Core. I teach in Georgia and we are using the CCGPS/Common Core for Georgia. When I checked the wording for the National Standards they match to CCGPS so I coded everything in the Notebook by the National Common Core for all to use. Maybe you could check out the Common Core Initiative to see the difference. If the wording is the same then I would think you would be fine to use these resources. I really LOVE your binder, but I teach 4th grade. Also, my district is in between using our old state standards and Common Core. I was wondering if you might be willing to make up a new item for me with maybe one template of each type of sheet that I could then edit to make for my own grade level/district standards.
