Used as part of a World War II literature circle, this small group project contains individual projects as well as those for the group with a culminating class presentation. In this literature circle study, I gathered novels from as many perspectives of the war as I could muster. My Name Was Keoko presents the unique viewpoint of a teenager in Korea at that time. It quickly became a class favorite that students were reading later, even if they weren't part of the original study! I loved teaching this novel!

Help
After teaching seventh and eighth grade Language Arts at a private school, I found it necessary to stay home with my children. Not yet ready to return to the classroom, but aching to stay atop trends in the field, I began volunteering at our local Alternative High School. I loved working with the students one-on-one and individualizing instruction. I was soon offered a position to help begin a preschool developing a classroom for 3 and 4 year olds. Through this, I am beginning to fully understand how important patience and finding ways to motivate and challenge students can be in impacting student learning!
