Our faculty has studied Debbie Miller's wonderful book, "Reading with Meaning," for a while now. It's a wonderful way to think about the reading process and it develops a consistent vocabulary with which we can discuss our reading at all grade levels. I developed this reading response activity form to help my students put their thinking down on paper. We practice doing several of these together as a class before I let them go on their own. This is a great way for me to assess how the students are connecting with their reading. You can modify this form to suit the needs of your students.
