It has been proven that student achievement increases when students take ownership of their learning and monitor their own learning growth and track their own academic data. This is based on the educational research of Robert Marzano and the leadership criteria in The 7 Habits Highly Effective People for Kids by Stephen Covey.
Although sight word learning is not an end unto itself, it has been proven to correlate to fluency and eventually reading comprehension. Sight word learning (sometimes known as high frequency words) is a standard in the Common Core ELA listed in the Foundational Literacy Skills strand for fluent reading. See my Rainbow Words Sight Word Learning and Assessment System for teaching all 200 sight words.
This product includes 6 sight word graphs depending on your End of the Year sight word target:
0-25
0-50
0-100
0-125
0-150
0-200
I'm really looking forward to having the students record their own progress! I've done this before on a limited basis and it really does inspire most students to strive for their best effort!
