Skills: Children will practice a variety of writing formats. They will create favorite lists, forms of poetry with templates, narratives, information pieces like all abouts and how tos. Students will also create letters and communicate with their teacher through writing.
This file is a 41 page download that includes My Summer Writing Journal that I send my kiddos off with in June. Included in the journal you will find making list activities, how to templates, journal prompts, acrostic poems, Haiku poems, riddles, giving directions, animal report, a grammar poem, a shape poem template, a friend interview, mapping, all abouts, and letter writing.
Each June I pass out My Summer Writing Journal and ask my students to practice writing all summer. After every few writing activities I have placed a letter template. Plus I include my address so they can write to me.
I also offer a prize for anyone who completes it and turns it in the first week of school. It is also my special way of making sure I get to see my past students:)

Hello! I purchased your my summer writing journal and I love it! It covers all of our second grenade writing types and skills. My students noticed that the summer fun acrostic poem has three m's in it. Is there any way that you can fix that? Thanks for a great product!
