This project takes students through the inquiry process while focusing on World Mysteries. It has two levels of study, one teacher guided and one student guided.
Students are introduced to the inquiry process by examining as a class the Mystery of the Mayan calendar. After this, they are asked to choose their own world mystery and go through the inquiry process to answer two questions that they have come up with about their mystery. They must then present their findings to the class and reflect on the process.

This unit was created August 2009 by Danielle Stinson and correlates with the Saskatchewan Grade 7 English Language Arts curriculum.
This is a very thorough project! The teacher seems to have included almost everything needed. Seems like a fun unit, too!

A thoroughly described unit that will successfully guide students through each step of the process of research and discovery. As a librarian, I might advise that a step be added which encourages students to evaluate the quality/caliber/trustworthiness of the sources they locate on their Mysteries (many of which may be conspiracy theorists or other extremist sources). But a great lesson plan, all in all!
