Studying the Newbery winners for 1970-1979?
I use this presentation. I do a Book Talk on each book, and when I get to a book that some of the students know, they love to add their views of the book!

1976: The Grey King
1975: M.C. Higgins, the Great
1974: The Slave Dancer
1973: Julie of the Wolves
1972: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH
1971: Summer of the Swans
1970: Sounder

I like introducing the books this way, so I don't have to hold all the books until I teach this to all of my classes. This way, the students can sign the books out and start reading them, and I can keep 'displaying' them for all the other classes.

I also use these as Printables - handouts for various projects, and even for colorful bulletin boards!
