PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is one of the few activities I have found that can demonstrate natural selection. It does take a bit to set up with the cards (I keep mine from the previous years) and some careful explanation, but once it gets going, it is great to watch. Great at demonstrating natural selection, genetic variation, and environmental conditions. Students can also modify the rules and set up their own experiment.

If you like this activity, you can follow these links to other lessons and activities in my evolution unit.

It looks interesting. I haven't had the time to set it up yet. I wish you provided game boards as suggested below.

A perfect transition from genetics to evolution. It was confusing at first so I made game boards for each table with squares labeled: alleles, genotypes (place your two alleles in the two boxes), event, event discard, dead (never use again), alive (use for next game; naturally selected alleles). In the corners I had keys of the phenotypes for the three genotypes and a key for the event card letters.
