This is a 3-4 week unit on 'Night.' The unit includes daily mini-lessons, handouts and activities.
In this unit there is a partial focus on double-journal entrying, where students react to parts of the novel that struck them, and discuss these moments with their peers.
There are also several moments in the unit that force students to put themselves in the shoes of Elie and the others in the novel.
The unit also includes a few days of frontloading to get the students familiar with the subject before they begin reading the novel.

7 years of successful teaching in the Public High School system in NYC. While there, I have taught English to 9th, 10th and 11th graders. In addition I have taught courses in SAT Prep, Media Studies.
