This is a 127 slide PP with cited facts and pictures about WWII, the Holocaust, the novel Night, Elie Wiesel, memoirs, and propaganda. It also includes a pre-reading free-write, as well as an anticipation guide. Also includes excerpts from an interview with Elie Wiesel. Excellent as a pre-reading source to give students the necessary background before reading the novel Night. It has a lot of visuals, with information regarding each, so it is appropriate for review, regular, honors, and GT levels. I generally pair the pictures with appropriate mood music, but due to copyright, I could not include the files. I am happy to let you know which songs I use for each section, or you can apply your own music preference. Some pictures are graphic- appropriate for high school, but use your own discretion.

I have also taught summer school, remediation programs, and SAT classes. *After-School SAT Program *Curriculum Writing *Reading Apprenticeship- learning strategies to teach students to read actively and to increase comprehension across subject areas *HSA Workshops- focus on creating and refining HSA warm-ups and curriculum-based activities in order to increase scores on the HSA *BER Seminars- focus on adapting writing instruction for LD students and helping reluctant readers *Assessment Writing Workshops- involved in rewriting Quarterly County Assessments in order to better reflect CLGs represented on the HSA public releases *Co-teaching Intervention Workshops- focused on increasing assessment scores, sharing activities, and increasing the effectiveness of co-teaching teams *MD Governor's Academy Workshop- workshops and creating curriculum-based HSA activities on the county and state levels *MD English Bridge Projects- writing Bridge projects for the state of MD *Governor's Academy 2007-2008- a wide variety of experiences relative to the teaching of the skills, concepts, and processes of the English Core Learning Goals. Included on-going assessment, direct instruction, demonstrations, observations, lesson study, discovery, feedback, and reflection while investigating the content, pedagogy, and resources related to the teaching of the English Core Learning Goals.
