Along with my nightly math facts log, my students also fill out a reading log. Here is the letter that I send home along with the logs at the beginning of the year. This year I determined that the two most important things a child could do was have quality reading time and math fact practice. In lieu of traditional homework, my second graders have followed this schedule. Each morning the logs are checked as part of our morning routine. It has been a nice change of pace.
