Students will learn the importance of captions and illustrations in non-fiction book through this activity. After doing a minilesson on the importance of these, students will choose a non-fiction book to read on their own. They will find a page with no captions or illustrations and then draw an illustration with caption to help explain the information on the page. Students will learn that captions/illustrations help to provide the reader with more information about the topic!
