PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a lesson on how headers and sub-headers help prepare our brains when reading non-fiction text. Sample anchor chart ideas are provided for teacher modeling, and mini-charts are provided as scaffolds for students to record their own thinking. This lesson helps to connect reading and writing. With the writing scaffolds/sentence stem charts students glue into their Thoughtful Logs and respond to, teachers will have evidence of students' understanding of headers and sub-headers which is often hard to do in a reading workshop. I will be posting the rest of my non-fiction text feature lessons soon so stop back frequently! To see more 'action shots' of how this lesson was used in my classroom, please visit my classroom blog: http://lifein4b.blogspot.com/2011/10/loaded-with-literacy.html
