You may have seen this on my blog, The ESOL Odyssey, or on pinterest. I had so many people writing and requesting directions, that I created this packet with instructions.

This freebie is designed to help your students review non-fiction text features with an authentic, grade-level, non-fiction text.

Originally designed for my 4th grade ESOL students, I have used this successfully in both ESOL and mainstream classes in grades 4-8.

I have not done a "foldable" and was hoping for specific directions on how to make the project...would you have a more detailed step by step set of directions?

Suzette, the foldables are pretty easy, and all the foldables in this activity are pretty much made from one basic foldable. First, grab a sheet of paper and fold in in half lengthwise (like a hot dog). Then, fold your hot dog in half, and then in half again. Open it back out to your hot dog. Use a pair of scissors to cut the flaps on one side by cutting along the folds from the outside edge to the center fold. You will have four flaps now. From there, the rest of the directions are in the packet. I hope this helps. You can also search for Dinah Zike, as she has put out some very detailed explanations on how to create a variety of foldables.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before coming to Maryland, where I currently teach grades K-5, focusing mostly on 2nd and 4th, I was in North Carolina teaching ESL Language Arts primarily to grades 6-8. While working on my MS in ESL Education at the University of Tennessee, I did student teaching with grades K-8 in Sevierville, TN. I have also been invited to Busan, S. Korea, twice to conduct 2 week teacher training seminars on Content Based English Instruction for English language learners, and I am SIOP trained as well. In addition to my MS, I also have a degree in Spanish and Mass Communications.
