Students Create a Timeline Project to be presented orally to class! This is a Culminating Novel Project perfect for Independent Novels but can also be used with novels in Small Groups and Literature Circles. And, of course, use this with novels of any genre!
PDF file contains:
*Instructions/Guidelines for Creating a visually appealing Timeline of Events based on story elements and main and significant events in the novel (plot, characters, conflict, climax, resolution etc.)
*A Rubric to use in Grading Projects; rubric should also be used for informing students of expectations. The rubric contains a section for the Visual Timeline Project and an Oral Presentation Section worth a separate grade. Naturally, scores can be combined, based on teacher's preference!
Students learn about various other books through classmates' oral presentations. Additionally, because students are reading different books, each presentation is unique.
Alternative approaches such as group projects, letting groups create the project and present together, are also just as successful as assigning this project individually.
Fosters sequential order text structure, order of events, goal-action-outcome structure
