Synopsis: Sterling North is 11 years old in 1918. He spends his days pretty much on his own since his mother died, his sisters moved and his dad is away much of the time. But on a May morning he finds a baby raccoon, brings it home and soon the two are inseparable and share many adventures.

Sterling and Rascal meet many people as they visit stores around town town, attend a Model T race, and participate in a pie eating contest. When a flu epidemic breaks out, they go and visit with relatives for an extended period of time
