6 Blackline masters of the Number Family Flip Books for numbers 5 through 10
According to the Math Standards, students are expected to know that a set of objects has the same number regardless of its position or arrangement. In our class one way we teach students the concept of Number Families is by making the Number Family Flip Book.
Each Number Family Flip Book has an addition sentence using shapes. Students are to count the shapes and write the corresponding number on the lines. When they are finished writing, students cut apart the boxes on the lines.
Students take their books home and are encouraged to practice "reading" the addition sentences with their families.

We have been teaching kindergarten together since 2000. We share a classroom but have our own students. The great thing about team-teaching is that for the majority of the day there are two teachers in the classroom working with the students. We support each other throughout the day and when we are not teaching, we share in the "prep" work!
