(**Actual formatting is intact, regardless of possible thumbnail images)This is a great before & after assessment of student opinion on important themes and ideas present within Lord of the Flies. The handout includes 10 debatable statements. Students assess how they feel about these statements both before reading the text, and afterward. I usually use this assignment to facilitate discussion, and it leads to great prompts for writing assignments.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Subject Area:

I have been teaching high school for the past 8 years. Throughout that time, I have taught English in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. I have also taught multiple levels of ELD (ESL). In addition to actual "in class experience", I have been a curriculum development specialist for online education through California State University Fullerton (CSUF). I am currently awaiting my scores for National Board Certification (fingers crossed! I find out in November.)
