On This Day is a Project which I created for 5th grade Social Studies. The primary focus was electronic research skills, PowerPoint was chosen as the Technology vehicle, and both a scanner and digital camera were utilized.

In this activity, students create a Power Point Presentation which contains information about the date of their birth. They research significant events and famous people related to the date of their birth and include both a scanned photo of themselves (as a baby) and a current digital photo of themselves.

This project is designed to take approximately 2 weeks, although it could take longer depending on the amount of detail included.

Please ask questions if you have any - I have taught this project several times with 5th graders. I do believe this project could be easily adapted upward for middle school students.
