This file includes a complete literature response unit for "Owls in the Family" by Farley Mowat. Included are comprehension questions and an engaging, higher-order thinking activity for each chapter. Additionally, there are two culminating activities for the end of the book.
Have students do all of the activities, or pick a select few to focus on. If preferred, the Check for Understanding questions can be used as a basis for oral discussion rather than written work.
Activities include: Check for Understanding (for each chapter), KWL chart, Venn diagram, Creating a Comic Strip, Sequencing and Transition words, attribute webs, illustrating a scene, cause and effect, interviewing a character, the 5 W's, quotation marks, editing for conventions, author biography, crossword puzzle. Answer keys are provided for all "Check for Understanding" activities.
Enjoy!
