Let your students internalize addition with this fun hands-on activity. Students will use paper clips attached to number cards to represent addition facts. Each card contains a target number. Students should use the paper clips to find different combinations for getting to the target number and then record their findings on the recording sheet.
This is a great springboard for introducing or reviewing the Commutative Property of Addition.
Take the math a step further by incorporating place value. Use different colors of paper clips to represent different place values. The possibilities to these cards are endless.
Included in the packet is: full activity directions, number cards, a recording sheet, an independent worksheet activity, and a list of extensions and blank number cards (for differentiating the activity).
