*HUGE UPDATE 3/16/2014 ! I've added several more items to this unit. If you have purchased this, please re-download it for all the extras.
Part of my 3rd grade curriculum includes our students being able to arrange sentences into coherent paragraphs. I haven't been able to find many activities to help with this skill, so I created these activities to met my classroom needs. The included activities will help students with organizing a paragraph, parts of a paragraph, main idea & details, identifying unnecessary information in a paragraph, choosing appropriate titles, topic & concluding sentences and sequencing.
Included in the Unit:
*5 Mixed Up Paragraphs the students will arrange into coherent paragraphs (Cut and paste format)
* 5 Double Mixed Up Paragraphs- These are the original mixed up paragraphs, with an added sentence that students must realize does not belong in the final paragraph. The double mixed up paragraph are a great way to differentiate these activities!
*8 Extension Activities/Task Cards ( Both color and B&W printable options) that can be used with the paragraph sorts. (Extension activities/task cards include practice with nouns, verbs, topic sentences, main idea & details, and author's purpose.
* 3 Task Card Supplement Resources- Including Noun Chart, Blank Paragraph Mix Up Outline for students to create their own " mixed up" paragraph, and a Parts of Speech Sorting sheet.
* 3 Graphic Organizers (Hamburger Paragraph Model( 1 Color Copy and 1 Outline students may use to organize a paragraph and Main Idea & Details Organizer.)
