This document includes two mini-assessments for participles (pre and post)and a power point with 14 slides. Each assessment includes five (5) multiple choice questions and the learning object would be to identify participles and their function. The questions only use past and present participles, and the students are also asked to underline the noun(s) modified by the partciple(s). There are no participial phrases on these assessments, so these questions would be most appropriate for students who are learning about this concept for the first time or possibly for learners who need extra support (special ed., ELL, etc). The power point includes a lesson opener, notes on participles, and then 10 slides explaining the answers to the pre-test. The sentences are analyzed in two different ways, once with diagramming and once with labeling, and the animation is already set for these 10 slides.
I taught this objective in late Oct.to early Nov., so I wrote sentences to the themes of Halloween and Thanksgiving.
The preview allows you to view JPEGs of both the documents. Thank you for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.

I have taught middle school for fifteen years in a large suburban district just north of Atlanta, Georgia. I have taught all three grade levels both language arts and social studies. This year, I will be serving as the school's full-time literacy coach.
