Tired of re-teaching parts of speech every year because students do not retain their knowledge? Help them to connect parts of speech to a relevant, real-life experience: creating a restaurant menu! Restaurants choose concrete nouns, vivid verbs, and descriptive adjectives and adverbs to make their dishes sound enticing and tasty.
The step-by-step directions will guide students in creating a menu that incorporates each part of speech, one at a time. Examples are provided for students to model. Throughout the process, students will see how the different parts of speech relate to one another to construct meaning.
A grading rubric and sample menu project are attached.
