Students sort images into groups such as transportation, day at the beach, classroom, and washing machine. Each group has an item from 1900, 1950, and today. Students arrange each group by these time periods. 12 groups for a total of 36 cards.

These cards easily provide differentiation. Younger students can simply sort a smaller amount according to past and present. Older students can use the cards as a starting point for discussions on changes in technology and culture.

This sorting activity would also make a great Grandparents' Day activity, so grandparents can discuss changes they have witnessed in their lifetimes.

Greetings!
I must say I do like your sorting cards with photos! I am presently a Toddler (year olds) teacher at a learning center and frequently make cards such as this for my kiddos. I am wondering where you find your pictures and what you do to avoid breaking any copyright laws. I have a set of photo cards that I would love to post for the different colors but I'm not sure if it is a violation of copyright laws. I was intending to list it as a free item so there would not be any profit received from it. Plus I would like to actually sell some things using photos. I would love any advice you are willing to give!
Thanks so much

Hi Heather,

Thank you so much for your purchase and question. A great place to learn more about copyright is the seller's forum. It has a whole section on copyright. There are two main places I go for my images.

1. Microsoft Office's gallery
2. Wikimedia Common

Best of luck,

Andrea
