My dream cane true when he was three My husband and I built from scratch a private nursery and kindergarten school in my back yard on 5 acres of land in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The school was modeled after an old fashioned schoolhouse, but a modern colorful interior. My dad took sick nine years later, and I sold the school and moved with my son to Florida to help and support my parents. I taught 21 years for Broward County in Florida. I started as a kindergarten teacher, but I also taught pre-first, first, and currently second grade at Atlantic West Elementary. In 1998 I created a website for teachers, parents, and students called Mrs. Alphabet where I could share my knowledge and resources with the cybernet community. I write a free newsletter which integrates the available internet resources with a theme. I am currently teaching second grade gifted at a Title One school as part of the Effective Teacher Program in Broward County.

I created this Powerpoint Presentation to highlight an original song I wrote to teach students strategies when they are taking a reading test. The visual and auditory combination helps students to be better prepared and organized while taking a test. I am thrilled with how my students apply the strategies in the song, and their scores reflect the success of this project. Match words with pictures by pressing the return button.

The creation of the Wearable Word Wall is a celebration of the distinct and diverse words we ask children to learn to read. There are 96 words arranged in alphabetical order. Every word prompts a mini lesson for the instructor to teach the child to discover all the possible word combinations. In additi

Teaching style

Visual aids, didactic and hands on materials, classical and dance music, mnemonic devices, drama, and strong and well defined procedures are some of the most integral and important aspects of my classroom which define my style of teaching. Many of the activities I create are "go green" as I am very resourceful and conscious of what items are inexpensive, reusable, available, and free for teachers.
