Thank you very much! I'll also be purchasing "Deal with It". What a powerful project you embarked on with those girls! I'm sure it will be a great mentor text for our writers.

I love your craft tables for Mentor Texts. Have you created any others? We are identifying mentor texts at each grade level to enhance our teaching of the "Units of Study for Writing". Do you have any other suggestions for Mentor Texts? I purchased Those Shoes at Teachers College when I was there for the August Reading Institute and I agree that it is a great one!
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR GREAT RESOURCES!

Erin:
I have many suggestions for mentor texts that you can use with your students. In fact, I have a bunch of them listed at http://shubey.googlepages.com/wwdemotexts. Hope that helps.

What is the "Satisfying Synonyms" board you refer to in your narrative peer conferencing sheet? (I think it's fabulous by the way!) Thanks, Jess

Jess:
It's a bulletin board which is essentially a thesaurus on the wall. For instance one of the parts of the board might say, "Instead of using the word sad, try the word:" and then it lists a bunch of options for the word sad.
Does that help?
Dear Groovemomma,
If you would like me to create something to help you with how to teach poetry, I can do that and post it. However, the Poetry Portfolio Guidelines do not provide instruction or teaching points for the Poetry Unit of Study.
Thanks for the comments about our blog!
Best,
Stacey

Hello. I am interested in your Poetry Portfolio Guidelines product. For the original poems section, do you provide specific instructions for each poem type?
I teach 3rd grade and want to have an organized way to teach poetry. I found you through your blog. Terrific!
