Give each group a roll of pennies. Then allow students to complete their penny data sheet. Hints have been included to help them in finding the mean, median, mode, and range. Since this is a real world problem, students might NOT have a mode. Two versions have been included. The first way has 5 attempts, so when students find median they end up with only one number. The second way is with 6 attempts ,so students will need to average to find the median. Two song lyrics have been included as a bonus. You could take this activity even further by finding the mean, median, mode, and range of the students' averages.
