Integration, integration, integration. This project integrates social studies, reading and writing and technology, into a two stage project. Students will use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher as well as the Internet in order to complete this project on one of these many important Americans from 1500 - 1860 including: George Washington, Harriett Tubman, John Cabot, Christopher Columbus, John Adams, Vasco Nunez del Balboa, Elizabeth Cady Staton and many more. The multi-stage project includes Internet research, informational writing, persuasive writing. Originally designed for fourth grade, this project can easily be adopted for older students. Includes teacher grading rubrics.

I currently teach a mixed age class of 3rd and 4th graders at the International School of Morocco. Previously, I have taught 1st grade and 3rd grade, as well as teaching all grade levels in the computer lab at a Title I school in Georgia. I have taught both high income and low-income school students, and find that no matter where I teach, most kids need to look at every problem from 12 different angles. Although it is challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding.
