This is a 20 page workbook to accompany the story "Pepita Talks Twice" by Ofelia Dumas Lachtman. Skills covered include: author's purpose, context clues, compound words, punctuation and quotation marks, syllables, multiple meaning words, fact/opinion, parts of speech, synonyms/antonyms, singular and plural nouns, homophones, verb tense, vocabulary, proper nouns, making connections, subject/predicate, reference materials, sequencing, alphabetical order, spelling, suffixes, sorting/classifying, identifying narrator, sentence types, genre, guide words, grammar, best word order, contractions, alternate endings, possessives, character analysis, summarizing, drawing conclusions, making predictions, matching skills, complete and incomplete sentences, pronouns, setting, characters, problem and solution, and cause and effect. This has been an invaluable tool in covering state standards and helping my school's 3rd grade students with comprehension and numerous language arts skills. The page numbers referenced in this workbook correspond to the story in the Houghton Mifflin® Anthology "Horizons" from their California Reading program. If you are using another version of "Pepita Talks Twice", this will still be useful to you, but you may have to modify a few things. If you like this product, check back as I will be making more workbooks for the other stories in the Horizons anthology. Tell your 2nd grade teacher friends that I also have workbooks listed for all 2nd grade stories in the "Adventures" and "Delights" anthology books!
