This is a cut and paste activity. The students will read the word problem and then decide whether you would need to compute the perimeter or area. They will glue the word problems in the correct column. Once sorted, the students will solve the perimeter problems.

Absolutely loved this activity. My 4th graders struggled with word problems in determining if it was area or perimeter. This really helped them figure it out.

Activity got the students thinking and helped solidify perimeter/area. Good examples. There were quite a few "cards" - too many for my students to use at once. I cut the activity in half and made it into 2 activities!

I like this the students get to cut out the problems...i think I will add to this by having them draw pictures of the problems and label the dimensions. My students have problems with lenth and width...So making the drawing and labeling will reinforce lenght and width...thanks
