This is an hour lesson on finding the perimeter of a shape. Students go around the room predicting the perimeter of taped shapes on the floor.
After students predict, they actually measure the shapes. Then, they compare their predictions to the actual measurements. This lesson is tied with the core curriculum, covers both metric and customary units, and encourages students to challenge and affirm their perceptions of measurement.
