Personal Dictionary is a excellent tool for any subject area and grade level. It can also be used for novel or unit studies. Personal Dictionary designed with a blank front cover to allow students to individualize. It can be used from elementary to high school because the basic layout allows students to create a Personal Dictionary that reflects themselves or the unit/subject they are using it for.
A great resource for English Language Learners and special education classes.
Includes space for:
- Pronunciation Key
- Definition
- Example Sentence
- Synonym
- Antonym
The back cover of the Personal Dictionary has space allotted for My Favourite Words, which can be accessed for quick recall and usage.
To photocopy, arrange each page as follows: put page 1 and 2 double-sided then 3 and 4 and so on. You may have to play around to get it right. But the file is made so that the Personal Dictionary looks like a real dictionary when photocopied correctly.
Print one Personal Dictionary to ensure you have photocopied correctly (each photocopier will be different). Once you have this correct, print off as many Word Banks as you need (and some extras for your colleagues who will surely "borrow" 1 or 2 as you are leaving the photocopy room)
To assemble, fold in half and staple using a long-reach stapler. These staplers can usually be located somewhere in your school. If you prefer to buy your own they do come in handy and can be purchased for a reasonable price from most office supply stores.
