Persuasive Writing - One of my best sellers!! A 10-page package of templates and grapic organizers that leads students through the process of writing a persuasive paragraph. Can also be used as a launching point for writing a full persuasive essay.
Worksheets can be used with a topic of your choice / student choice OR you can use a topic I've had success with in the past. I ask whether or not students should be allowed to listen to music / MP3 players in class. This topics usually generates some interesting discussion in class with students as it's a topic I've found they're very passionate about. I've included templates for both options!
The first time I work on this activity with students I usually work on the given topic as a class (listening to music players in class). We can have a class discussion to brainstorm ideas for topic sentences, ideas in support of listening to music and arguments against. Often students need the support of a whole group lesson like this to help them write a persuasive paragraph and it's helpful for students who struggle with the writing process. Once students are comfortable with persuasive writing I then ask them to work on their own topic independently.
Includes brainstorming sheet, argument organizer, outline, self-evaluation rubric, marking rubric and more.
