Note: If you recently purchased this unit, please re-download. The file reverted to the previous version without the bonus prompts. I have re-uploaded the file and the prompts should now be visible.

This lesson will introduce your first or second graders to writing persuasively. The lesson includes:
1. Building Background Lesson
2. Anchor poster (persuade) Anchor Poster (steps to write persuasively)
3. Modeling Lesson (printables for recording pros/cons)
4. Should we get a pet? Persuasive writing lesson
5. Pair and Share editing technique (because who has time to meet with 25 students during a writing workshop lesson?)
6. Rubric for evaluation (and my notes on evaluating student work)
7. Check Your Work Poster (printable to post and to copy for each student)

BONUS: As a bonus, this lesson also includes an additional product, Persuasive Writing Prompts for Beginning Writers. This product is also sold individually. It contains 27 simple writing prompts to use at a writing center after teaching the writing unit.

The student persuasive writing lesson focuses on writing to persuade you to get a pet for the classroom. This lesson includes instructions for using an "alligator" as the animal and an alternative lesson for using a different animal. Literature connections to alligators and a website link (purchase a Gro-Beast alligator) are included as well.

This lesson is part of my writing program, Write My Way... lessons for beginning writers. Check for other writing lessons in my Writing Products category. A free scope and sequence of the entire program is available here

Have fun with your beginning writers! Lisa Rombach

Note: If you use the Gro-Beast Alligator, distilled water works best!

Hi Sugar10!
Thanks for the heads up. I don't know why, but the file reverted to the original version without the prompts. I have uploaded it again and it should have the prompts now. Please let me know if they are NOT there. I really appreciate you letting me know! I had no idea the prompts were not showing!
Regards!!
Lisa

Hi Linda,
First of all, thanks for purchasing and for your nice comment.
I have protected the pages from being copied (so that my materials cannot be "copied" and pasted" into other documents) but you should be able to download as many copies of the file as you want from the "my purchases" tab once you are logged in to TPT.
You should also be able to save a copy of the original document (I just tested this and it did save a copy on my desktop).
Can I ask if you are trying to highlight and copy certain things on a page or just save a whole copy of the file so you have a back-up?
TPT has a GREAT feature under "my purchases". You have access to all your purchases and you can download them as many times as you want! You can download additional copies for back-up OR download a copy for home and one on your school computer.
Does this solve the problem? If not, let me know and I'll continue to help you until we get this resolved!
I'm so sorry you were frustrated! My apologies!
Lisa
