This is a three week Common Core Aligned persuasive/opinion writing unit that covers letter writing, nonfiction writing, and a book talk. The focus is OREO writing; opinion, reasoning, examples, and opinion. This unit includes minilessons, materials, internet resources, posters, graphic organizers, writing checklist, scoring rubric, and teacher modeled writing examples.

Would you be willing to share that rubric with me? We are implementing 6 +1 traits and I would be curious to see what your district is using. I would also like to try it out on their writing. So far we have completed the first two letters and I must tell you that they are HILARIOUS! I even called a couple of parents and read their child's letter to them because they were so great!

I started my career in teaching in the second grade. I taught second grade for four years. I moved to teaching fourth grade. While teaching 4th grade, I got my Masters in Reading and I currently am an Intervention Specialist. I primarily assist at-risk students in reading. I also provide additional assistance to students in math as well.
