This center has 26 picture cards which are to be cut into rectangles first and then like a puzzle in the middle of the clouds. Children will match the sun onset or initial letter with the rainbow rime or word ending using the picture clue on the sun and saying it aloud. Have the children practice arm bending/blending. Children raise the left fist to shoulder and say “P”. Then move right fist to shoulder and say “ot”. Then together emphasize “pot.” Next ask children to say “ ot” without the “p” and lower the left arm but keep the right arm up. This makes them really look at and listen to the rime or word ending. This can be a take it to your desk center, whole classroom activity using the document camera, or used in small intervention groups. Download on cardstock and laminate for durability. "Once upon a time," I went to college and earned a degree in speech pathology and audiology. My teaching career stopped for a bit when our first son was born. Next I became an elementary special education teacher. Life went by, I got a masters degree in elementary education and had two more sons. Once again I changed my teaching assignment. I retired last year with a total of 38 years in education with 26 as a first grade teacher. My sons are grown and on their own. Now I get to tutor 18 kindergarten students and six 2nd grade dyslexia students. My part time teaching gig makes my heart sing and I am truly living "happily ever after! "
