This is a lesson plan for teaching students about how to read visual arguments. What is the photographer saying about his subject? By using Kevin Carter, a South African photographer, the students analyze the ethics and values of the "ends justify the means" debate. This is one of the most impactful lessons I teach all year. I am also selling optional worksheets to use with this lesson, also titled "Photojournalism and Ethics."
