At the beginning of an introductory physical geography class I asked each student for their favorite place in the world. I input them into Google Earth and referred back to them over the course of the semester to illustrate physical geography ideas. Students liked learning something new about their old haunts and it made the class more interactive. This could easily be adapted to human geography, or other subjects.
This file is just an example - use my idea to create your own for your class.
