Topics covered in the Power point:
Physical properties: mass, volume, density, boiling point, melting point, viscosity, color, shape, texture;
Chemical properties: ability to burn, ability to react with acid, formation of a precipitate, release of gas or light or heat, decrease in temperature;
Physical changes: melting, freezing, boiling, evaporation, tearing, dissolving, cracking, breaking;
Chemical changes: burning, reacting with acid, releasing heat or light or gas, forming a precipitate.
Visual examples and terms are presented. Two examples of separating a mixture by using physical properties are presented.
After completing the presentation and notes, and the review page, students will have a thorough understanding of physical and chemical properties and changes.
