Use this powerpoint to discuss the work of Piet Mondrian and then to also assess whether students can identify his work when among other famous artists. I used this after having shown students prints and photos of Mondrian's work. I went through the slides and showed them each and discussed what made it recognizable as Mondrian's work. Then at the end of our grading period they took the assessment by numbering a paper 1-10 and writing yes if the piece or art was done by Piet Mondrian and no if it wasn't. When I didn't preview the slides the students had MUCH lower scores than if I did preview the slides at the beginning of the study. There were still many weeks in-between the preview and assessment since we studied one famous artist per trimester.
