This is one of my favorite activities to do with students if we have a few days free for an activity. The piñata "recipe" attached will show you how to create an easy piñata with simple materials, that can be hung from the ceiling for decorating your classroom.
Heads always turn when students (and teachers) walk past the Spanish room and see 130 piñatas hanging from above! The kids LOVE this activity and their creativity is unlimited!! You will be amazed at what they can come up with.
This is a fun activity I'm sure you will enjoy. I've also included a list of tips to make the project more creative and to allow your students more freedom of expression.
Lesson plan includes a grading rubric, and five internet links on the history and culture of the piñata.
These are candy-less creations, and are made for decoration only, although if kids wish to do so, I'm sure they can add candy (instead of newspaper stuffing).
