This set of language arts activities is based on the story Pirates Don't Change Diapers written by Melinda Long. My students love this story. The activities included are:
1) a listening response quiz
2) a custom note-taking form
3) a creative writing activity
4) a vocabulary wordsearch puzzle
5) a vocabulary framework puzzle
I encourage my students to take notes while I read the story aloud. They use their notes to complete the story response form. Sometimes I have them work with a partner to further discuss the story, and become more familiar with the pirate phrases.
Answer keys are provided.
