Here is a great activity for recognizing money, money value, and learning to exchange coins. Done in a fun Pirate Board Game Format, students gather and exchange coins in order to build their plunder and ultimately win the game. Lots of pages, lots of practice and lots of fun.

Thanks for making a Canadian version. I could not find it on your site when I went to look for it though. I found the American version only. Erin

Hi Erin, I found it when I looked. Looked under the other version. I am going to try to post a link for you here. I have never done this before on a reply so don't know if it will work. Fingers crossed. Chery http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Pirates-Plunder-Money-Change-Game-CANADIAN-Version

I love this idea! Is it possible to make a Canadian version with Canadian money? I teach grade 2 and it may seem crazy but they don't make a direct connection to the American Coins--they look for their maple leafs on the penny, the beaver on the nickel, the caribou on the quarter, etc. to help them recognize the coin and recall the amount.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 30 years both in the United States and Internationally. I am currently doing a K-1 loop and LOVE teaching both Kinder and First Grade. My favorite part of my classroom day is watching my students using resources I have made and knowing how much they are learning while having so much fun.
