Pizzas are a great real-world connection to help students learn about fractions. With this activity students create their own "pizza" using toppings provided. Students then write the corresponding fraction to show what fractional part of the pizza has a specific topping. Ideas are also included to modify this activity.

I've been teaching for seven years. I taught in a 2nd and 3rd grade multiage class for one year. I ran our school computer lab and taught technology lessons to all students in K-5 for two years. The 2012-2013 school year will be my fifth year teaching first grade, and love it!
