This is a complete lesson plan for teaching students how to read large numbers easily. I have been using this lesson plan for several years and once the students have this lesson, most can read any number you give them. This lesson plan has an opening, work time, and closing. Extension, acceleration, and remediation activities are included in the lesson plan. Students will use a place value grid, (included), and a view finder, (2 versions of the view finder included: black/white or colored), to read large numbers. The grid goes to billions, but, you can stop at thousands. Included also is a Place Value Table, for the Acceleration Activity, a worksheet, Periods and Places Review, for the Remediation Activity, along with an Answer Key for the remediation activity. Grade level doesn't matter. If a child needs to learn how to read a number, large, larger, or largest, this is the lesson plan you need. There are 8 pages altogether, including directions on how to use the Place Value View Finder. The view finders and grids can be used on any day as a review, extra practice, etc...

I have been teaching for the last 18 years. I have taught 4th grade for the last 11 years, teaching all subjects. I have a passion for Math, and have been allowed to teach it exclusively for the last few years. I also taught 6th grade math/social studies/science in a middle school before switching gears to the elementary school.
