This top-selling place value unit has been recently revised, reorganized, and improved! This comprehensive unit can stand alone, or provide extra practice to supplement a textbook. Lots of practice and reinforcement for basic place value concepts with four-digit numbers. Skills that are practiced and tested include: place value models,place value charts, standard and expanded form, writing word names for numbers, place value of a digit, comparing and ordering numbers,ordering numbers on a number line, and 10 more, 10 less, 100 more, 100 less, etc. The activities are excellent for test prep. Included are Math Journal pages, a quiz to be given mid-way through the unit, and a unit practice, unit review, and unit test to be given at the conclusion of the unit. Cartoon digit characters add an element of fun and provide directions, tips, and encouragement throughout the unit! Answer key provided.

The last 26 pages all print out with large bold letters all on them. I thought it was our printer but i have printed twice from other printers. What a shame. Overall the activities would have been good for independent or for homework, but i am left a little upset with the quality( due to the large letters)

I am so sorry that you are having trouble printing this file. I looked at it, and the file itself seems fine. I know I have had trouble printing pages from the internet at times. When I print to the school copier, some files come out looking like a foreign language. I don't know the reason for that-maybe a problem in my computer to copier connection. Anyway, I will be happy to send you the file in another format, or help in any way that I can. Please let me know. I checked to make sure it was a pdf, and it is. So I don't think the problem is with the file. It has been downloaded and printed 70 times and this is the first complaint.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As an elementary teacher for 34 years, I have struggled with a lack of quality materials that provide the necessary practice for concept mastery. It has been my experience that many textbooks and commercially produced materials do not provide the depth of practice and repetition required for student mastery. I have been writing most of my own supplemental materials for years, striving to meet the needs of students who need more than one or two exposures to a concept in order to achieve mastery. My many years in the classroom have provided me opportunities to work with changing curriculum standards and increasing demands for student performance. I have worked with second and third graders throughout my career and have a very solid understanding of the learning process and the needs of young students.
